Depression and Panic Attacks

There is not uncommon for people that suffer frequently from panic attacks to get depressed. Feeling like you can’t do a thing to stop the panic attack from happening, having to avoid certain places, people  and situations and because of that loosing friends and feeling that you are a misfit, feeling  that there’s something wrong with you like loosing your mind or going insane, not being able to get help because you’re too ashamed to talk with anybody about your condition, that’s really depressing.

Depression can take many forms, from having a bad mood or feeling blue, to clinical severe suicidal depression.  Depression comes in stages and these can be described as :

Moods – feeling blue, not having the urge to do nothing. This is the first and least dangerous form of depression, since it can be preventable and easy to repair in a short period of time.

Mild to moderate depression – can take forms from feeling “the blues” to feeling hopeless. Currently, over eleven million Americans suffer from mild to moderate depression.

Clinical depression-  this is so severe that the person that suffers from it looses interest in the outside world,  has pronounced behavior changes, and in the worst case gets separated from reality. This form of depression requires professional treatment.

Suicidal depression – is the most severe level of depression, where the person doesn’t see any reasons to live and thinks that everyone would be better off without him/her around. The need of professional help and treatment is imperative in this case.

When depression feels like it affects you on a daily basis and you feel that you can’t do the same things you used to do because of it, then you should consult your doctor, and always share your feeling with your family and friends.

If you experienced depression for more than two months, then it is advisable to seek professional help from your doctor or physician. Long lasting depression can have biological repercussions and need medication. The fight with depression isn’t an easy one,  but a lot of people managed to win, and you can be one of them. Never underestimate this and always be cautious, since you’ve already seen what you can expect from long lasting depression, and there is no need to get that far. You can stop it in time, and there is never too late to start treating it and taking action.
